10 “set-and-forget” ways to get people to like your Facebook Fan Page
So have you got yourself a Facebook Fan Page? Are you busy trying to get lots of people to Like your Page?
It’s tough isn’t it?
It’s easy to go at with hammer and tongs and find yourself focuses on nothing but your Fan Page for 2 weeks. Desperately telling, tweeting, emailing and blogging about your new Facebook home which only gets boring and monotonous … for you AND your potential clients.
But once you’ve got your first 25 fans and got your fan page username, there is no need to be asking over and over and over again. Building your Facebook page fan base is a long-term strategy. There are no quick wins to be had here!
So what can you do to attract fans? Here are my 10 top ideas that, once set up, mean that you can go about your working week and let the systems do the work for you.
- Your business card – add your Facebook page url to your business card, just as you would your own website address and email address. If you have a special offer for fans who like your page, add this as a call to action on the back of your card.
- Your email signature – the most underused marketing space! Either add it as another web link under your own website. Or highlight it as a P.S. Here’s an example of one of my email signatures:

- Your newsletter – add it your regular newsletter template, either a simple link or add a Facebook graphic. Never forget – it’s there with every email you send out to your list.
- Your autoresponders – if you are using an autoresponder system to send out emails to your list, add a specific autoresponder that asks them if they have liked your page. Don’t hit them with it as soon as they’ve subscribed. Give some value, send them some “good stuff” and then ask them.
- Your invoices – you’ve got your contact details there, so why not add your Facebook page url
- Your delivery notes – I am amazed how few retail companies make use of their delivery notes or add literature to the stuff I buy online. A satisfied customer who just received your goods is ready to take action if you give them the opportunity. Just remember – add your Facebook url! “Find us on Facebook” is not making it easy for your customers. You get a specific username so use it!
- Your website – now this is up for debate and I would recommend you think carefully before deciding to do this. Do you want to be taking your first time web visitors away from your website? There are plenty of Facebook badges to choose from – just think strategically when and where you want to steer your web visitors from your site to Facebook.
- Your LinkedIn profile – you have up to 3 website links to add to your LinkedIn profile. Does your Facebook page merit one of these links? Top Tip – you can change the wording of each link. Click here to see how.
- Your Twitter profile – where do you send people to when they click on your website link on your Twitter profile? A lot of Twitter users are Facebook users so if you have a good offer on your Facebook page where people can sign up for something to get on to your mailing list, do you want to take them straight there? Or take them to a dedicated page on your website which showcases your Facebook page there? Think carefully what journey you want to take potential clients on.
- Schedule the odd tweet – If you are using Twitter on a regular basis, try scheduling the odd tweet once or twice a week. Any more could be rather spammy for your followers so be careful of overusing and over tweeting this. Plus you may want to schedule the tweets on different days and times to avoid repetitive messages. Remember to focus on the benefits – what’s in it for your fans – and include a link to your page.
Where else? What other forms of standard communication do you have where you can your Facebook link? You may find that there are a couple of other ways you “speak” to your potential clients so remember to add your Facebook fan page link as appropriate.
BIG TAKEWAY TIP – adding a Facebook logo and a “Find us on Facebook” is just not enough! Give people a reason why to find you and give them the specific link of the page.
Make it easy for your potential clients to find and like you on Facebook!
